- Today the organization, the employers and employees must be more flexible and always adapt to a changing environment. The purpose of my study is to investigate how managers interact with their employees and how they use their leadership in an international organization. The interviews have been analyzed using a hermeneutic perspective. Half of the managers were Swedish and the other half was Japanese. I have identified six aspects of leadership; development, overall perspective verses detail perspective, communication, responsibility and organization structure, respect and effectiveness. I also found a common organization culture. To understand the aspects I have applied theories about organization culture, leadership and empowerment. In the analysis I discovered that they have two ways of leadership that initially appear similar but when the subject is penetrated differences are found. One type of leadership is focusing on developing the employees and guiding them. The other type of leadership focuses on different values on the group, which affects the way the managers use their leadership. For example they have different ways of communication with the employees. In the same time they have an interaction between themselves, which enables them to use each other’s leadership. They have also built a common organization culture, which can be used as a platform to develop and learn from each other. Through this investigation I have identified areas for future studies, for example from a business law perspective, genus perspective or with the use of quantitative method like survey. The leadership is not as static as previous findings tell. (Less)
