Abstract (Swedish)
(Less)
Abstract
The aim of the present study was to investigate the role of meta-emotions, experiential avoidance, and mindfulness in the prediction of couples’ satisfaction, estimated with the Couples Satisfaction Index. Additionally, the study examined whether individuals’ meta-emotions and partners’ meta-emotion philosophies could predict couple satisfaction. A connection between the above-mentioned constructs has been shown or suggested in previous studies. These studies have, however, differed methodologically from each other and from the present study, which was quantitative and was conducted using web-based self-assessment questionnaires. The study consisted of individuals (N=35) who were at least 21 years old and had lived together in a... (More)

A connection between the above-mentioned constructs has been shown or suggested in previous studies. These studies have, however, differed methodologically from each other and from the present study, which was quantitative and was conducted using web-based self-assessment questionnaires. The study consisted of individuals (N=35) who were at least 21 years old and had lived together in a relationship for at least three years. The data were analyzed statistically by regression analysis. The results did not show any statistically significant relationship that predicted couple satisfaction, and it was also difficult to detect any non-significant relationships. The lack of any correlation should be considered in light of the very low number of participants and the fact that no couples with presumptive low couple satisfaction participated in the study.
