- Abstract
- The purpose of this thesis is to discuss polycentrism to better understand it and its function in todays planning. To achieve this are this thesis based upon three different parts. First there is a compilation of the most important and available theory on this matter. Among others is Walter Christaller one of the scientists that are described here. His Central place theory had a great impact on how we think about polycentrism today. The next part is based on official documents from various instances connected to either planning as such or to polycentrism in specific. Polycentrism is often very present in todays planning, however not always completely acknowledged by the planners. So how much does actually our awareness affect the outcome? (Less)
