Abstract (Swedish)
I denna magisteruppsats, med titeln "Hållbar textilhantering", undersöks ett urval av olika affärsmodeller och strategier närmare vad gäller ett hållbart koncept och flöde inom textilförbrukningen och hur detta fenomen varierar och ger uttryck för sig idag. Uppsatsen utgår från teori kring CSR, affärsmodeller inom hållbar utveckling, samt från hur textilier produceras tills att de blir slängda. Uppsatsen tar särskild hänsyn till en hållbar textilhantering, främst ur ett detaljhandelsperspektiv, men även till vilken grad andra aktörer och intressenter är betydelsefulla. Utgångspunkten är en kvalitativ studie med en induktiv ansats där ett urval av verksamheter studeras och intervjuas för att sedan analyseras utifrån en cross-case analys.... (More)
I denna magisteruppsats, med titeln "Hållbar textilhantering", undersöks ett urval av olika affärsmodeller och strategier närmare vad gäller ett hållbart koncept och flöde inom textilförbrukningen och hur detta fenomen varierar och ger uttryck för sig idag. Uppsatsen utgår från teori kring CSR, affärsmodeller inom hållbar utveckling, samt från hur textilier produceras tills att de blir slängda. Uppsatsen tar särskild hänsyn till en hållbar textilhantering, främst ur ett detaljhandelsperspektiv, men även till vilken grad andra aktörer och intressenter är betydelsefulla. Utgångspunkten är en kvalitativ studie med en induktiv ansats där ett urval av verksamheter studeras och intervjuas för att sedan analyseras utifrån en cross-case analys. Vidare grundar sig empirin och analysen i de utvalda affärsmodellerna som ger en varierad bild av hur förhållningssättet till ett hållbart textilflöde tar sin form. Detta leder fram till fem slutsatser där vi kan konstatera att dagens syn på mode och förnyelsebehov av textilier hos konsumenterna leder till en konsumtion som är skadlig för miljön, samtidigt som det paradoxalt nog gynnar verksamheter inom nyproduktion. För en välmående framtid krävs hållbara och miljövänliga textilier och till det finns ett behov av att kunna vara moderiktig över tid, samt leda utvecklingen mot hållbarhet. Idag saknas även ett gemensamt index för miljöprofilering som skulle kunna främja utvecklingen av hållbar textilhantering. (Less)

This master's thesis, entitled "Sustainable Textile Management," examines a range of different business models and strategies more closely in terms of a sustainable concept in textile consumption and how this phenomenon varies and is expressed today. The thesis is based on the theory of CSR, business models in sustainable development, as well as how textiles are being produced until they are discarded. The thesis pays particular attention to sustainable textile management, primarily from a retail perspective, but also to the extent that other stakeholders are important. This master's thesis, entitled "Sustainable Textile Management," examines a range of different business models and strategies more closely in terms of a sustainable concept in textile consumption and how this phenomenon varies and is expressed today. The thesis is based on the theory of CSR, business models in sustainable development, as well as how textiles are being produced until they are discarded. The thesis pays particular attention to sustainable textile management, primarily from a retail perspective, but also to the extent that other stakeholders are important. The thesis is a qualitative study with an inductive approach where a range of businesses are studied and interviewed and then analyzed through a cross-case analysis. Furthermore, the empirical foundation and analysis are based on the selected business models that provide a mixed depiction of how the approach to a sustainable textile flow takes shape. This leads to five conclusions, which shows that the current view of fashion and renovation needs of textiles to consumers’ results in consumption that is harmful to the environment, while it paradoxically benefits businesses with manufacturing. For a prosperous future, sustainable and environmentally friendly fabrics are required and there is also a need to be fashionable over time, as well as a lead towards sustainability. Today there is also a lack of a common index for environmental profiling that would promote the development of sustainable textile management. (Less)
