This is due to investment costs and annual production of the plant. However, the produced electricity, which is defined by suppliers, is not reliable. This is because the estimated annual production is usually given at the average of wind speeds by 5-6 m/s, which is seldom happened in an urban environment.

This is because the estimated annual production is usually given at the average of wind speeds by 5-6 m/s, which is seldom happened in an urban environment.
In this essay 6 different models of small scale wind turbine from 1- 4 kW has been selected to simulate the annual production for available wind measurements from Kraftringen’s wind station at Värpinge (an open area) with an average wind speed of about 3.3 m/s. A metrics comparison (investment costs/kWh) has then been used between these works and a large-scale wind turbine with effect of 2 MW and solar panels on 3.5 and 4.5 kWp. It is seen that small wind turbines are still more expensive than the other options because of the high investment costs and lower electricity production.
An economic analysis was then been made for the three selected products (2 pcs horizontal wind turbines had lower metrics than the others and a vertical wind turbine was also chosen with the idea that the analysis would be conducted for both types of wind turbines). The first analysis was done for these turbines at wind speed of 5 m/s (the recommended average wind from suppliers before installation of a work) without concerning about some types of incitements. It showed that none of the options were profitable because of the high investment costs and the low economic benefits from energy production, which is dependent on the current low electricity price and the low production from wind turbines. The other analysis showed that the increase of electricity prices around 100- 300 % is needed, if these above mentioned turbines will repay itself in 10 to 11 years for an average wind speed of 5 m/s. It would then be required an incitement (feed-in tariff) between 1.5 to 10 SEK /kWh for these turbines, if they want to be profitable (= pay for itself after 10-11 years) with an electricity cost of 43 öre /kWh.
