- Popular Abstract
- The Greek economic crisis has a significant influential effect regarding the perception of ethical leadership in both employee’s and leader’s point of view. Empathy is a present aspect in the empirical findings, nevertheless it is a missing aspect in the relevant literature of ethical leadership. We link empathy to the notion of the gift drawing on the Greek linguistic difference between philanthropy and charity, arguing that the leader’s level of empathy influences both the relationship between leader and employee, and can interpret ethical leadership under the lenses of charity or philanthropy.
