Abstract
This research study aims to examine why small business owners comply with rules and regulations within their industries. The purpose is to obtain a deeper understanding of legal obedience amongst small business owners. More specifically, what extrinsic and intrinsic motivations makes small business owners comply with the laws. This study is exploratory and is based on five semi-­structured interviews with small business owners. The sectors covered are media production, beauty, hospitality and construction
