Abstract (Swedish)
There are 774 million people in the world today who are illiterate, two thirds of those people are women. Worst affected are the countries in the Sub Saharan Africa. The low level of education and the injustice in which children that are entitled to go to school is expected to have consequences on economic growth. The aim of this study is to describe the effect of equality in education on GDP growth. The study is limited to twenty-two countries that are all specificially located in the south of the Saharan desert in Africa. The purpose of the study is to, with an extended version of the model of technology, analyze the effect of education equality in those twenty-two countries. The study is limited to twenty-two countries that are all specificially located in the south of the Saharan desert in Africa. The purpose of the study is to, with an extended version of the model of technology, analyze the effect of education equality in those twenty-two countries. To be able to perform this study we have created a variable of equality that we added to our empirical and theoretical analysis. With a panel regression the effect has been analyzed with a period of 25 years.

Our empirical analysis suggests that equality in education directly affects the economic growth. With an increase of the equality variable by one percentage, the data shows a direct increase to the GDP by 0,353 percentage. Therefore, we are able to determine that the inequality in education negatively affects the economic growth. In our theoretical analysis we discovered that inequality indirectly impacts the decrease in human capital. (Less)
