Library Anxiety Scale, a quantitative instrument, in a form of a survey and used to measure library anxiety through surveys among college and university students, were used during the focus groups as a qualitative, visual material and a basis of discussion. The focus group interviews revealed that the staff had a curiosity and an interest towards the concept of library anxiety and the instrument Library Anxiety Scale. The study suggests that while discussing library anxiety, the library staff got new perspectives on their library structure, as well as some new ways of understanding and being of assistance to the library users. The study also showed similarities between library anxiety and the library staff’s work with inclusion. As it shows in the study, inclusion could be a potential solution for the struggles that comes with library anxiety. The concept and the instrument could therefore be of relevance for the library staff when looking at strategies to improve the contact with their users. (Less)
