- Abstract
- The development of technology for electric road systems is highly relevant today. Plenty of technologies and infrastructure for charging while driving electric vehicles are being tested in Sweden today. One possible solution for an electric road system is conductive charging from a rail on top of, or milled into, the road below the electric vehicle. In this type of conductive charging an electric connector is sliding on top of the rail keeping an electric connection for charging the vehicle. This puts immense requirements on the sliding contact material.
At the division for industrial electric engineering and automation at the Faculty of engineering at Lund University, research is being conducted in this type of electric road systems.... At the division for industrial electric engineering and automation at the Faculty of engineering at Lund University, research is being conducted in this type of electric road systems. Here a test rig is built for assessing contact materials in conductive charging on electric roads. In this report a measurement system is designed and built for testing contact materials which are slided on this test rig. Also limited testing and measuring of two contact materials, copper and aluminium, are conducted on this test rig.
The results show a fully functioning measurement system that in general meets the set criteria.
The limited testing of contact materials slided on the test rig shows some general correlations. It also highlights some unexpected occurrences such as asymmetric heating of contact material depending on the electric polarity of the contact, and effects due to chemical reactions such as oxidation.
(Less)
