Abstract
Organizations today are heavily reliant on data to make the right decisions, and Self-Service Business Intelligence (SSBI) rose to prominence with the promise to solve some of the problems related to traditional Business Intelligence. This study aims to fill this research gap by identifying user-related challenges of SSBI and creating a set of recommendations for how these can be managed. A qualitative interview study was conducted, including professionals and users from the industry. The... (More)

This study aims to fill this research gap by identifying user-related challenges of SSBI and creating a set of recommendations for how these can be managed. A qualitative interview study was conducted, including professionals and users from the industry. The findings highlighted several user-related challenges, such as accessing and using data and users lacking the right skills and knowledge to work with SSBI in a self-reliant manner. The collected data provided insight that allowed the researcher to formulate several recommendations on how these challenges could be managed. The results highlight the importance of providing users of SSBI with the right training and support to work with the tools, providing users with the right set of tools, and creating an environment that enables and promotes the use of SSBI.
