- This thesis analyzes how managerial responsibilities and competencies are affected by the integration of AI within organizations. As AI technologies increasingly support or automate operational tasks, decision-making processes and strategic planning, the responsibilities of managers are evolving. The study aims to identify these evolving responsibilities, and the competencies required to effectively navigate AI-enhanced environments.
A qualitative case study approach was employed, focusing on a company in the Swedish telecom industry. The nine key identified competencies include technical, change management, development, cultural innovation, interpersonal, ethical, and critical thinking.
These findings suggest that AI amplifies the relational and developmental facets of leadership by emphasizing human-AI collaboration. Organizations must support managers in adapting to these changes by offering targeted training and development opportunities. Understanding these dynamics is essential to enabling effective leadership in AI-driven contexts and ensuring the responsible and successful adoption of AI technologies in the workplace. (Less)
