- Indigenous rituals escorted Evo Morales throughout his first years as president of Bolivia. The art and the ritual practices of the yatiri, the Aymara healer and ritual specialist, are going through interesting transformations entering new political spaces of power. But which role does this therapeutic knowledge and ritual practice actually play in the present political process and how should this be understood? Los rituales indígenas acompañaron a Evo Morales a través de sus primeros años como presidente de Bolivia. El oficio y las prácticas rituales del curandero y sabio aymara, el yatiri, están pasando por interesantes transformaciones, entrando a espacios políticos donde no solían estar presentes. ¿Pero cuál es realmente el papel que juegan el conocimiento terapéutico y la práctica ritual en el actual proceso político? Les rituels indigènes ont accompagné les premières années d’Evo Morales en tant que président de la Bolivie. Depuis, le métier et les pratiques du guérisseur et homme de sagesse aymara, le yatiri, subissent des transformations intéressantes dans la mesure où elles s’infiltrent dans des espaces politiques qui leur étaient étrangers jusque là. Mais quel est exactement le rôle des connaissances thérapeutiques et des pratiques rituelles dans le processus politique actuel ? Cet essai ethnographique étudie l’entrecroisement des pratiques politiques de gouvernement avec celles, rituelles et thérapeutiques des yatiri. Ceux-ci nous offrent une lecture alternative des dynamiques politiques et culturelles de la société bolivienne actuelle, dont ressortent les correspndances fréquentes et remarquables entre colonialisme et maladie d’une part et, d’autre part, décolonisation et guérison.
