(2004) In SASPENCE Technical Report. PReVENT Consortium- Abstract
- Literature surveys, limited to the sensor technologies applicable for the functionalities of relevance for the “Safe Speed” and “Safe Distance” concept, were conducted on recent and undergoing development in the area of sensor technology. Various alternatives of combinations of sensors can serve for building the prototype for the Safe Speed and Safe Distance concept. However, one sensor alone can not fulfill the expectations. Information from various sensors taken together can improve reliability and redundancy of the information for safety critical situations. In order to get a better picture of the environment in front of the vehicle Data Fusion is needed involving the merging of the information provided by different sensors.
