(2007) In Paper and Packaging 48(3). p.14-49- Abstract
The Paper and Plastics Education and Research Insitute at the University of North Florida and NPTA have taken an initiative to adopt and implement the papiNet standards for supply chain standardization and integration. papiNet can be described as a global standard for the paper and forest industries. The companies, which want to adopt papiNet, are required to follow the standards developed by the Segment Implementation Group (SIG). These are described as a simple transaction model, an extended transaction model, and a collaboration/SCM process model. The companies, which want to adopt papiNet, are required to follow the standards developed by the Segment Implementation Group (SIG). These are described as a simple transaction model, an extended transaction model, and a collaboration/SCM process model. The simple transaction approach is the introduction of papiNet through the range of XML based message between the companies, and in the extended approach companies will expand the utilization of papiNet. papiNet, for the US paper industry can become a vehicle for cross-functional process and supply chain standardization and integration. The papiNet approach can potentially have positive impact on costs, assets, revenue and service.
