Cryo-fracture TEM: direct imaging of viscous samples

- In the present work we show the capabilities of the new protocol called cryo-fracture TEM recently developed in our laboratory. The systems selected to test the protocol were C12E8-water and P84-water, and the phases imaged were lamellar (L-alpha), hexagonal (H-1) and cubic (I-1). This protocol is a natural extension of the capabilities of conventional cryo-TEM, which enables direct imaging of viscous samples.
