What Can Be Found in a Hollow Rock? A site from the Middle Stone Age in Western Cape, South Africa.
(2010) p.199-206- Abstract
- Due to erosion a quite specially shaped site was formed in the Cederberg, Western Cape, South Africa, as a rock with a hollow base large enough for rooming an occupation layer dated to the Middle Stone Age. The occupation layer holds a number of so called Stillbay points that appear at about the time when the first decorations and ornaments are documented. This might indicate a mental improvement of the otherwise physically full developed modern humans. The settlement also includes different colours of ochre and a variety of raw material that indicate a improvement in the social network.
