Abstract
The study examines from a cultural analysis perspective how habilitation training can learn adolescents who use wheelchair to become more integrated in urban environments. The wheelchair is considered in this study mainly as an emancipator. A specific habilitation training, called “Wheelchair in the city”, is studied, that teaches adolescents to overcome the obstacles they meet in urban environments. The obstacles can be stairs and elevators, but also how to take the bus or buy ice cream at the café.
