- Achieving meaningful curriculum internationalization requires moving beyond siloed, ad-hoc efforts, such as relying solely on the International Office, especially when it comes to addressing the key issue of engaging faculty in internationalization efforts. Instead, faculty involvement in curriculum internationalization is best garnered through planning that leverages institutional synergy.

To guide that effort, this chapter introduces a step-by-step guide to help internationalization leaders plan pathways specifically for engaging faculty in the work of internationalization. Through identifying and harnessing the vital roles of diverse campus stakeholders, a broad understanding of how to develop an ecosystem at an individual campus is established. Then, the inventory continues with a consideration of obstacles to faculty investment in internationalization and a critical review of the local landscape for maximization of opportunities. In sum, this approach ensures a broad, supportive environment towards encouraging faculty investment in internationalization priorities.
Offering practice-based and research-informed reflections, the chapter guides university leaders and internationalization managers on how to optimize limited resources and secure a strong, systemic foundation for curriculum internationalization efforts.
