Extension of storm water system at Ostra Torn, Lund
(2002) Proceedings of the Ninth International Conference on: Urban Drainage p.1-11- Abstract
- When the Ostra Torn area of Lund, Sweden was further developed in the 1990s, storm water was connected to the old separate storm water system. This increases the risk of flooding near the connection points. In this paper, the function of the system is analyzed using Storm Water Management Model SWMM. Consequences of extreme storms are investigated: It is shown that it is not necessary to connect the new system to the old one, but instead the water could be redirected to flow through a greenway zone to a small creek. A downstream pond can be used to reduce peak flow. A hypothetical open canal system with small ponds is discussed.
