Abstract
This article is based on an analysis of two corpora in French as a foreign language by Swedish learners; one cross-sectional and the other longitudinal. These two corpora lent themselves to different approaches: a linguistic approach which stressed the developmental profile of agreement in number; and a more cognitive approach which analyzed various aspects of explicit and implicit knowledge in the implementation of inflectional morphology of the plural form. Cet article est basé sur l’analyse de deux corpus de français écrit langue étrangère par des

apprenants suédois ; l’un transversal et l’autre longitudinal. Les deux corpus permettent des

approches différentes, l’une de caractère linguistique mettant l’accent sur le profil

développemental de l’accord en nombre ; l’autre plus cognitive analysant les aspects des

connaissances explicites et implicites dans la mise en oeuvre de la morphologie flexionnelle

du pluriel. Nous observons que l’accord nominal est produit plus tôt que l’accord verbal, tout

comme en français écrit L1, et que le modèle régulier (racine+s/-nt) est suremployé dans le

domaine irrégulier. Nous nous intéressons entre autre à l’impact de la fréquence type des

morphèmes –s et -nt ainsi que la fréquence d’occurrence de certaines exceptions de la règle.

Les analyses réalisées dans une perspective cognitive montrent que les apprenants appliquent

la règle morphologique de manière plutôt consciente (explicite). Seuls les verbes irréguliers

les plus fréquents (i.e. ils sont/ont) sont produits de façon plus implicite. (Less)
