Hybrid method for the prediction of thermo-acoustic waves in an annular gas turbine combustion chamber
(2007) 43rd AIAA/ASMESAE/ASEE Joint Propulsion Conference and Exhibit- Abstract
- The acoustic field in an annular gas turbine combustion chamber with thirty burners has been studied using a hybrid approach. The acoustic field was determined by solving an inhomogeneous wave equation. The acoustic sources were provided by a low Mach number flow solver. The main focus was to determine the influence of nonuniform behavior and interactions of neighboring burners. For this reason the acoustic sources of neighboring nozzles were imposed with a time shift. The lowest frequency eigenmodes of the combustion chamber were identified to be the first three azimuthal modes and the time shifts were introduced whereby these modes can be observed easily. The desired modes were induced at the inlet region, whereas further downstream... (More)
