Abstract
This paper presents an overview of animals depicted within the Swedish con-cession area of Gebel el-Silsila and Shatt el-Rigal, spanning the Prehistoric to the early Islamic period. It includes commentaries on stylistic, technical and chronological phases of the rock art, and present an overview of distribution patterns as well as a relative taxonomic morphology for the more frequent motifs. Main emphasis will be on the early material as it represents the largest group. The paper presents a relative stylistic timeline, divided into nine phases, based on the morphology and production technique used for the pet-roglyphs.
