Crack-Growth Criteria and Crack Tip Models.
(1988) In Solid Mechanics Archives 13(4). p.193-238- Abstract
- The current status of crack tip characterizations is reviewed. Several unresolved areas for further research are identified. Singular fields for stationary and moving crack tips in different non-linear materials are reviewed and special emphasis is put on the extension of the region where these fields dominate. The use of path-area integrals, asymptotically elastic crack tips, and crack initiation growth and propagation are discussed in the light of the results and arguments presented. The following points are discussed: general aspects of crack tip modeling; cohesive zone models; general aspects of singular crack tip models; energy flow to the crack-tip; fields at stationary crack tips in different materials; fields at moving crack tip in...
