Not my responsibility : Progress report 1 (12-2022 – 09-2025)
(2026)- Abstract
- This progress report presents the results from the first phase of the research project Not my responsibility (NoMR), running from December 2022 to September 2024. The project investigates how Swedish communities can strengthen preparedness and resilience to wildfires by developing a shared understanding of hazard, exposure, vulnerability, and responsibility across stakeholders. During this period, empirical work has been carried out across several domains, including analysis of the 2021 Finsjö wildfire, extensive stakeholder mapping, national-scale assessment of social and physical vulnerability, and experimental studies of wildfire emissions from typical Swedish forest fuels. Findings highlight the complexity of responsibility in wildfire... (More)
- This progress report presents the results from the first phase of the research project Not my responsibility (NoMR), running from December 2022 to September 2024. Findings highlight the complexity of responsibility in wildfire management, the importance of informal networks, and the central role of adaptive community capacity. The project has also piloted a household vulnerability assessment tool and conducted an international research exchange with Australia to learn from established community preparedness practices. Together, these activities provide early evidence and tools to support improved collaboration, shared responsibility, and risk reduction strategies for wildland–urban interface communities in Sweden. Further work will develop and operationalise these insights into guidance and stakeholder engagement frameworks during the next phase of the project. (Less)
