Ghost Installation: Rönnells

Hernandez, Katt LU (2022)
Abstract
In January of 2022, I made an installation event at Rönnells. I set larger speakers up on the balcony, and played three of the large-scale multi-channel compositions from this project– Skogen är bäst på bild, Vädersolsmodernitet and Vart ska dom ta vägen nu?–at a very much lowered volume. I made them hoping they could function both as concert pieces and as installations. The event at Rönnels proved successful in that regard.

In another section of the store, I installed the 8 MiFa speakers with a new Ghost Installation. For this, I took recordings of authors reading their own work, including Karin Boye, Åke Hodell, Thomas Transtommer, Katarina Frosterson and Klas Östergren, and processed their speech into non-recognizability. For this, I took recordings of authors reading their own work, including Karin Boye, Åke Hodell, Thomas Transtommer, Katarina Frosterson and Klas Östergren, and processed their speech into non-recognizability. I also read some texts, myself, from the classics genre, and added my voice to the processing. All of the synthesizer sounds are triggered by these voices; even those where the voices are not apparent. The section of the shop where I installed this piece has sections of Greek and Roman classics, some poetry, nautical subjects and military history. So the works I chose, even though they were no longer recognizable as such, dealt with those subjects.

The original tracks for this Ghost Installation have been lost. All that remains is this room recording.
