Abstract
This presentation departs from two recent collaborative projects. The former An Urban Archive as an English Garden (Franzson, 2019) was instigated by Davíð Brynjar Franzson and revolved around a sonic hologram and performance therein. Originally created as a site-specific sound art in a public space, the installation can be seen as taking on the form of a Nonsite (Smithson, 1968/1996) as it moved from its original location to an institutional space. By examining these performances I aim to unpack the responsivity involved in such mediated processes and the various agencies at play. This, in turn, may offer ways of thinking-through the performance of both early and contemporary music.
