- ABSTRACT Digital games are central to the global creative industry. New target groups of the games industry include families, females and older gamers. Here is briefly presented a research project that investigates the particular affordances and restrictions for gameplay of older women with families - Gaming Moms: Juggling Time, Play and Everyday Life. Game-playing habits are naturally conditioned by varying life situations such as age, gender and financial status. The specific gaming situation of Nordic mothers is analyzed from a cultural analytical perspective. The playing habits of these mature female gamers are approached by way of the themes “emotions”, “productivity” and “time management,” and their possible implications for game culture and the game industry are discussed.
