Loseke’s perspective on the construction of social problems and the theoretical framework of neuroliberalism. The results from the study demonstrated a discourse consisting of critique against Swedish psychiatry and their use of antidepressants, described as ineffective and harmful. By contrast, psychedelics were depicted as natural, being effective against mental illness and having healing properties. The discourse highlighted the neurological enhancement and self-development characteristics of psychedelics, and it is highlighted as a responsibility for the individual. The study concluded a clear shift in the perceived responsibility regarding mental illness, from society to the individual. (Less)
