(2026) MULM75 20261Malmö Academy of Music
data.

(Less) - Abstract

power in the school of arts
Authors: Joel Fritzson and Molly Lindström
The purpose of this study is to investigate how the discretionary power varies
amongst music teachers based on the different contextual factors in school of arts. The
rules of conduct refers to the structure of the building and architectural constraints, the
accommodation from managers and principals, and the spatial competence amongst
music teachers. The data in this thesis is collected through semi-structured interviews
with a criteria-based selection. The results of the study are discussed and divided in four

architectural aspects. Since the contextual factors does not notably affect the
discretionary power, the differences between the schools are therefor insignificant. The
conclusion of the study is that the discretionary power amongst the informants differ
based on the two reasons: the lack of knowledge and the power of will. (Less)
