Concept Development of Network Display Speaker

- Abstract
- Network Display speakers are used as public address (PA) systems as security
devices for effective communication of messages. Lately, one of the industry
leading companies within IP network product systems launched their own take on this. This thesis aimed at developing a new display speaker in collaboration with them, focusing on sustainability, user feedback and new features.
The project followed a Double Diamond design process. It started its research by
conducting interviews with relevant stakeholders regarding the current product. The
data gathered was analyzed and compiled into a technical specification, to act as a
basis for the iterative development phase. Development of the new solution was

The project followed a Double Diamond design process. It started its research by
conducting interviews with relevant stakeholders regarding the current product. The
data gathered was analyzed and compiled into a technical specification, to act as a
basis for the iterative development phase. Development of the new solution was
divided into smaller segments that focused on one problem area at a time. Those
areas were: Mesh attachment, Display attachment, Sealing, Form & Layout and
speaker drivers. Lastly, solutions generated were evaluated and a final concept was
chosen and made into a prototype.
The final concept resulted in a portrait-oriented box with two speaker drivers and
larger display. The products strobe was located at the top corners, together with a
light indicator. At the bottom, a sunken motion detector was set to aid a potential
impact protection (IK) rating test. Within the product, printed circuit boards (PCBs) were reduced to three. The inside consisted of two separate chambers, one for audio and one for electrical components, with a seal between them made of compressed silicone. hörnen tillsammans med en ljus-indikator. I nedre delen sattes en nedsjunken
rörelse-sensor för att hjälpa potentiella IK tester. Inuti produkten reducerades antal PCB till tre stycken. Insidan bestod av två separata kammare, en för ljud och en för elektriska komponenter, med en tätning mellan de gjort av komprimerad silikon.
