This need has further been increased by the popularity of the relevant sustainability indices and reporting guidelines which help stakeholders critically assess and compare the sustainability performance of companies. This thesis hence discusses in general sustainability reporting, and in particular the case of Skånemejerier, a Swedish dairy company, which faces the challenge of defining principles, processes and implementation for sustainability reporting. A brief overview of sustainability reporting, its need, trends and guidelines is provided in the beginning which is followed by the detailed case study. The case of Skånemejerier is presented with an in-depth analysis of the company’s current sustainability standing, its internal management processes, and the relevant people involved. Most of the information has been collected through interviews with senior management at the company. Some insight is also provided by sustainability reporting staff at other companies. Using the information above, a framework has been designed to provide a solution to implement a sustainability reporting process in Skånemejerier. Further recommendations are also provided based on literature and the managers’ perception to improve this process’ performance. (Less)
