- Genom att studera några av Sveriges just nu största intresseorganisationer och forskarnätverk för främjande av samhällsentreprenörskap, vill författarna skapa en nulägesanalys av området i Sverige - samt utmaningar att beakta för områdets framtida utveckling.
Då uppsatsen har ett beskrivande syfte kring ett ämne som till vissa delar är outforskat i en svensk kontext, har en kombination av deskriptivt och explorativt synsätt använts. Relationen mellan teori och empiri har utgått ifrån principen om abduktion. En kvalitativ ansats har använts för att kunna gå på djupet på ett fåtal intervjuobjekt. Empirin utgör en primärkälla, som insamlats via semi-strukturerade intervjuer med öppna frågor.

Teori har främst inhämtats från samtida forskning eller böcker om ämnet, vilka producerats för en svensk kontext. Viss teorilitteratur från ämnet samt från ämnesområden med koppling till företagsekonomi (småföretagande, innovation, nätverk) har använts utan hänsyn tagen till nationell kontext.
Undersökningens objekt är fem stycken intresseorganisationer samt två forskarnätverk, vilka aktivt arbetar med området samhällsentreprenörskap i Sverige vid tidpunkten för genomförandet av studien. Sju intervjuer har gjorts sammanlagt, med en representant för varje medverkande verksamhet.
Studien leder till en bred kartläggning över de sju verksamheternas arbetsfält samt hur de använder begrepp, hur de startats och finansieras samt hur de samverkar med varandra och över samhällsektorer. Deras åsikter om nuläget och framtiden för området i Sverige används för att placera in området i en utvecklingsmodell samt för att analysera vilka åtgärder som är särskilt viktiga för möjliggörandet av områdets fortsatta utveckling. Theory used in this paper has mainly been obtained from contemporary research or books about the topic that have been produced for a Swedish context. Some theoretical literature about the topic as well as from subjects related to business administration (small businesses, innovation, networks) has been used without taking into account their national context.
The objects of the study are five associations and two research networks that actively work with support of the field of social entrepreneurship in Sweden at the time of execution of the study. Altogether seven interviews have been conducted, each with one representative from a participating organization.
The study has resulted in a broad situation analysis of the seven organizations´ working field, with regard to their use of concepts from the field, how they started and their financing, their interaction with each other, as well as their operations across the sectors of society. Their opinions on the current status of the field as well as about its future have been used to place the field in a development model and also to analyze what measures are particularly important for the enabling of the field´s development in the future.
