Modeling and simulation of a cooling tower with extended uses
(2015) KET920 20151Chemical Engineering (M.Sc.Eng.)
- Abstract
- In this work, an existing cooling tower, created for educational purposes, was modelled and simulated. The model was solved in Matlab using the built in function ode15 and it was eval-uated by implementing both absorption and process control. The implementations were per-formed in the simulation only.
The model was deemed to be fit for the existing tower although there were unfortunately some uncontrollable effects that couldn’t be quantified. This resulted in that the results from the simulation are slightly different from the experimental. The absorption and the process control were easily incorporated and performed well in the model. - Popular Abstract (Swedish)
- Modeller krävs för att förstå vår omvärld och är speciellt viktiga för att förstå kritiska punkter i en process. Ett kyltorn kan vara en sådan kritisk punkt och en modell skapades och studerades genom experiment och ytterligare funktioner.
