Abstract
The tourism industry is important for the economy on a global scale. However,
the industry also requires large amounts of the world’s resources on a yearly basis.

To answer the question, the sustainability of Vens tourism was studied from an
ecological, cultural and socioeconomic perspective. In both the ecological and
cultural perspective, it was shown that there are several measures and regulations
that act to preserve nature and culture on the island and promote the usage of
these values in the tourism industry. From the socioeconomic perspective, it was
shown that the conservation of the island's nature and culture limits some parts of
the social and infrastructural development on the island. However, the conflict
between the various aspects could be seen as marginal as the island is in close
connection to Landskrona city where social services and infrastructure that are
missing on Ven are available. (Less)
