Abstract
Citizen dialogue is something that within planning is advocate now today. It helps planners to gain valuable information about place and space but it also strengthens democracy. The literature often presents perspectives based on what is important to think of within planning, e. g. social justice and inclusion, but little about planner’s actual workload and capabilities. The purpose of this thesis is to study the planners’ perspective about citizen dialogues. It will contribute to a better understanding about the complexity of planning and how complex the work of planners is. The purpose of this thesis is to study the planners’ perspective about citizen dialogues. It will contribute to a better understanding about the complexity of planning and how complex the work of planners is. A survey and interviews will be the methods used to get the planners’ point of view, especially on possibilities and obstacles that comes with dialogues. The information gained from the combined methods along with the theories will answer the research questions. The limitation of the paper is a Swedish context, and the municipalities that are chosen has an ongoing project of making a masterplan or have just completed one. (Less)
