Abstract (Swedish)
This research investigates how speed shows up in an organization during an IT system implementation and how this element of acceleration impacts the employees in the company. We aim to address the following research questions: How does the need for speed show up in an organizational change? What is the effect of the perception of speed in the organization for the employees? Drawing on Hartmut Rosa's (2017a, 2017b) theory of social acceleration, we examine the implications of emphasizing speed during an IT system change. Through a case study at MedicX, ten semi-structured interviews were conducted using an abductive approach. Findings reveal that low and high speed exist at the same time forming a phenomenon we call the speed paradox. At... (More)

Findings reveal that low and high speed exist at the same time forming a phenomenon we call the speed paradox. At the same time there is evident heightened stress levels in both the employees impacted by the change in those implementing the change. This research contributes to understanding the complexities of organizational change. (Less)
