Abstract
After the pandemic COVID-19, there has been a widespread adoption of the remote work model. In addition, team compositions are becoming more diverse across various aspects. Therefore, there are a lot of mixed views on how companies should manage remote work strategies to balance the interest of both employer and employee, taking into consideration the diversity within teams. While previous literature has primarily focused on examining the relationship and impact of remote work and diversity on either employer or employees, there is a remaining gap regarding how companies execute these action plans. Moreover, the majority of current studies have been conducted in Europe, the USA and Asia. Therefore, this research finds it relevant to... (More)

While previous literature has primarily focused on examining the relationship and impact of remote work and diversity on either employer or employees, there is a remaining gap regarding how companies execute these action plans. Moreover, the majority of current studies have been conducted in Europe, the USA and Asia. Therefore, this research finds it relevant to analyze the Latin American market to provide insights that comprehensively reflect the particularities of the region. Hence, the purpose of this thesis is to provide a deeper understanding of remote work strategies implemented within diverse teams in the Latin American markets, analyzing the challenges and benefits through the lens of both employee and employer’s view. Thus, companies and managers can take reference from the findings to promote an inclusive and sustained work environment for all backgrounds. To gather the information, the thesis is based on analyzing two case studies: one is a marketing startup, and the other is an IT company with semi-structured interviews method.

From having in-depth interviews, the findings suggest that remote work strategies are influenced by four factors of diversity, namely demographic, family, home-space and geographical; and five factors of strategy such as productivity, creativity, team communication & engagement; manager support & legislation; home-life conflict management & work-life balance. These findings assist the thesis to bring about the three strategies that companies are currently implementing, considering all factors of diversity and remote work strategy. These strategies are examined from the employee and employer perspective, which add values to prior research by looking with many perspectives regarding the strategies. (Less)
