Abstract (Swedish)
I arbetet intervjuas
CROW ”Design manual for bicycle traffic”. Arbetet baseras på en
litteraturutredning, dokumentanalys, intervjuer och platsbesök.

CROW ”Design manual for bicycle traffic”.

i stadsplaneringen.
(Less)
Abstract
Cycling is an important part of a sustainable transport system. It contributes
among other things to a better environment and improved public health. The
aim of this thesis is to investigate which factors characterize a good cycling
city, from an infrastructural point of view, and which factors may lead to
increased cycling. In the thesis, representatives of the municipalities of Lund,
Malmö and Helsingborg are interviewed about which infrastructural measures
they believe have led to increased cycling. The measure that each municipality
has ranked highest has been compared with the Dutch guidelines in the
CROW “Design manual for bicycle traffic”. The thesis is based on a literature

has ranked highest has been compared with the Dutch guidelines in the
CROW “Design manual for bicycle traffic”. The thesis is based on a literature
review, document analysis, interviews and site visits.

The literature indicates that a bike-friendly city is characterized by a cohesive,
safe and attractive cycle path network, with a strong focus on cycling in urban
planning. These factors potentially lead to increased cycling. The results show
that the municipalities work towards similar goals, but they have different
conditions regarding demographics, topography, distance and the structure of
the cities. Helsingborg and Malmö ranked separate cycle tracks as the best
measure, while Lund chose a bicycle highway. In comparison with the Dutch
guidelines, most of the criteria for separate cycle tracks were met, but few
criteria were met for the bicycle highway. (Less)
