Flood analysis and protection system : Application to The Hongru River
(1995) Rain water harvesting and management of small reservoirs in arid and semiarid areas In TVRL- Abstract
- The definition of a decision support system(DSS) may be : human-computer interactive software system to solve semi-structured decisional problems for decisional makers with data utilizing, information management, knowledge, as well as model techniques. DSS only provide supporting information about making decision for the decision maker without stipulate the decision itself. Decision is made by human being.
The research of DSS is dated back to middle of 1970’. Miecheal S. Scott Morton and Peter G.W. Keen etc. made a lot of work as pioneers in this field. China began some DSS research work at the middle of 1980’ while Management Information System(MIS) Technique became mature. The project “Water Resources Management in North China”... The project “Water Resources Management in North China” funded by UNDP in 1992 developed the first prototype in the field of water resources management. This project tries to put forward another successful DSS in the field of flood control planning.
