Den konkreta texten

Abstract
Linguistic text research typically operates with methods, models and categories that conceive of texts as formal, static and discrete units. This also seems to hold for socially oriented theories, though their views naturally are more contextually oriented. Examples are given from systemic-functional linguistics, critical discourse analysis and social semiotics. In contrast, hermeneutics has
traditionally viewed texts as being inexhaustible, dynamic and contextual. In this article, it is argued that the hermeneutic text concept is ontologically more fundamental, whereas the common linguistic concept may be thought of as derivative. This does not mean that the linguistic concept should be discarded; even so, it does raise questions... (More)

This does not mean that the linguistic concept should be discarded; even so, it does raise questions about the relation between the two concepts,
as much as it turns attention to the interpretative activity of linguistic text research. (Less)
