Breast cancer and its genetic heterogeneity at single cell level: A concise perspective of cellular architecture and taxonomy
(2025) p.89-112- Abstract
- Dealing with the heterogeneity of breast tumors and treating breast cancer patients pose a great challenge. The heterogeneity within and between tumors indicates that each case of breast cancer may have a good prognosis and could benefit from tailored therapies. Breast cancer is a condition that undergoes changes as the tumor progresses and metastasizes, which presents further challenges for implementing therapy decisions. To supplement existing information, we reflect on this contribution of breast cancer and its genetic heterogeneity at the single-cell level, providing a concise perspective of cellular architecture and taxonomy. Indeed, to determine the treatment strategy for recurrent breast cancer, it is important to evaluate biopsies... (More)

To supplement existing information, we reflect on this contribution of breast cancer and its genetic heterogeneity at the single-cell level, providing a concise perspective of cellular architecture and taxonomy. Indeed, to determine the treatment strategy for recurrent breast cancer, it is important to evaluate biopsies taken from different sites where the cancer has spread. Additionally, closely monitoring the tumor progression and treatment outcome is crucial in breast cancer patients. Radiogenomics and liquid biopsy are invasive tools that can provide valuable insights into the heterogeneity of breast cancer. (Less)
