- The purpose of the book was studying the possibility of constructing and validating the literary canon after the literature written during the communist period. After 1989, the number of presses and publishing houses proliferated and it became practically out of question for literary critics to review everything that was published. Culture was one of the least affected forms of communication and interpretation by the change of political regime. The purge was insignificant and soon the Foucauldian structures of power and bias were working with pretty much the same staff as before the Revolution.
