Paradigm Petrification in the Information Age. An Anatomisation of Knowledge Creation and Deliberation in Innovation Systems in the Human Services
(2007) European Consortium for Political Research, 2007- Abstract
- In human service organisations, evidence-based practice (EBP) implies that practice and decision-making should be guided by empirical evidence in a systematic way. Policy makers and researchers argue that practitioners in many fields do not apply state-of-the-art methods and that they should rely on evidence in a more systematic way. Among the suggested reasons for this state of affairs we note lack of dissemination, technology-transfer or organisational bar¬¬riers. The widespread interest in EBP has heightened attention on issues such as diffusion of innovations, implementation and organisational aspects on treatment, outcomes and “innovativeness”. We discuss the context of these processes by using the umbrella term innovation systems.
