Challenges in the engineering design, manufacture, and testing of polymer gears

Tavčar, Jože LU and Huskić, Miroslav (2024) 1. p.1-19
Abstract
Polymer gears are becoming more and more interesting parts of various machines; they are used in ever-more-demanding operating conditions. Due to their good mechanical properties, lightweight, and low noise during operation, they tend to substitute metallic gears in some traditional applications, and they also enter new applications such as e-bikes. A reliable design of polymer gears remains, to date, an open challenge due to the lack of specific material characterization of polymers and to the complex nonlinear relations between different geometric and operating parameters. This book offers a comprehensive professional state-of-the-art on polymer gear design and processing. It is a good reference for graduates, postgraduates, engineers,... (More)

This book offers a comprehensive professional state-of-the-art on polymer gear design and processing. It is a good reference for graduates, postgraduates, engineers, research scholars, and industrialists in various fields, such as automotive, household appliances, tools for home and garden, personal care appliances, e-bikes, etc.. Polymer gears, processing, and materials are hot research topics. However, research results are distributed in conference papers and journals in the areas of engineering design, tribology, polymer materials, polymer processing, polymer testing, failure modes, etc. (Less)
