Abstract
This case examines Meta’s strategic response to the 2026 social media addiction trial, where the company faces accusations that Social media design contributes to compulsive use among young users. While competitors such as TikTok and Snapchat chose to settle before trial, Meta decided to defend its practices in court. The case invites students to analyze this decision from a corporate brand and crisis communication perspective, evaluating the strategic trade-offs between litigation and settlement under reputational, legal and stakeholder pressure.
