Abstract
In-process Controls (IPC) are controls performed to ensure quality in production. At TePe
Munhygienprodukter AB (TePe) there was a need to evaluate, analyze and optimize the IPC:s in their
production which was the motivation for this master thesis. TePe had extensive problems regarding the
disposal of large amounts of defect products and the absence of clear instructions describing the
execution of the IPC:s. Based on TePe’s needs, an analysis was made to ensure that the production was
cost-effective and quality assured by the use of IPC:s. The results from the analysis determined which
IPC:s should be performed, which sample size should be used and what amount of time between the
IPC:s that was optimal.

Based on the results, it... (More)

Based on the results, it was decided that no previously performed IPC:s would be removed. For one of
the production lines, new tests were introduced due to identified necessity. The sample size has been
defined and, for most production lines, a more frequent execution of IPC:s has been introduced. A large
reduction in production costs and a small increase of workload justified implementation of the results
in TePe’s production. Finally, detailed instructions for execution of the IPC:s were made. Further
suggestions of improvements are recommended to be investigated by TePe in the future. (Less)
