Abstract
During the Covid-19 pandemic, all Swedish high schools had to shift their education to distance learning, which led to new challenges for both teachers and students. The aim of this study is to increase the knowledge about students’ perspective of distance ensemble education. This study will investigate which teaching methods students from Skåne report that they have encountered during their distance ensemble education, together with how that type of learning has affected their motivation. The study consists of a survey sent to all high schools in Skåne which offers The Music Arts Programme and four semi-structured interviews with students who wanted to further develop their answers.
The results gave no alternative teaching methods than... (More)

The results gave no alternative teaching methods than the ones I had initially stated, where the most common ones were recording projects, transcribing music and self-studies. The results also showed that the students’ motivation had drastically decreased. The main cause was due missing classmates and multiple students questioned if distance ensemble education should be classified as ensemble education since they can’t play together.
I discuss aspects of distance ensemble education that I believe are essential for students to maintain their motivation to the subject. More collaborative moments, a bigger variety of methods of learning, more practical elements and better technology to be able to play together, are some of the students wishes. (Less)
Abstract (Swedish)

(Less)
