Importance of rapid bleeding control in haemophilia complicated by inhibitors.
(2011) In Haemophilia Jul 1. p.11-16- Abstract
- Summary. Despite improvements in therapy that has greatly enhanced the treatment of patients with haemophilia with inhibitors, they are still at risk of poorer outcomes including haemophilic arthropathy and long-term disability. The objective of this review is to consider clinical data on the effect of rapid control of bleeding episodes on outcomes in these patients. Rapid control of bleeding episodes using bypassing agents has the potential to minimize joint damage and to improve quality of life. Consideration of strategies to support rapid control of bleeding - including patient education and awareness, and timely administration of clotting factor - is important.
