Assemblages of Affect: Encounters of Consumer-Researcher Bodies with Retail Spaces

- Drawing on ethnographic observations in Sweden and affect theory, this study immerses researcher-consumer bodies in extended retail spaces to explore affective encounters. Conceptualizing consumption spaces as affective assemblages, it unveils how affective states of disposition, disorientation, and distress from interactions with socio-material elements shape bodily experiences of inclusion and exclusion.
